Special Education

Welcome

Welcome to Special Education at Cuba-Rushford Central School District

At Cuba-Rushford Central School District, we believe every child has unique strengths and deserves the support they need to succeed. We are committed to providing students with disabilities a free appropriate public education (FAPE in accordance with New York State Education Law and the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education (Part 200), as guided by District Board of Education policies.

The Committee on Special Education (CSE) and Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) work closely with families, educators, related service providers, and students when appropriate to develop individualized education programs (IEPs) that support academic, social, and emotional growth. Special education services are provided in the least restrictive environment (LRE), with a focus on inclusion, access to the general education curriculum, and participation in school activities alongside peers.

Families are valued partners in this process. If you believe your child may have a disability or may benefit from special education supports, we encourage you to contact the District’s CSE Office to discuss your concerns and learn more about available supports through the MTSS or CSE Process as well as the evaluation process, if necessary.
